One more day

We spent the whole day at the Ericson, we have the forward v-birth totally clean with all of the mildew removed and all of the teak cleaned and then oiled . The main salon everything was removed and all hatches were opened up and cleaned. The port side has some water damage on the upper shelf and the teak liner at the windows, after looking at your photos I am looking to replace the wood with Formica. Everything again was cleaned with teak cleaner and then oiled really well. I also got part of the kitchen sink area cleaned back up, and was looking at the condition of the thru hulls and valves. The starboard side was just as bad as the port, muddobbers have several nest in rear areas and we had to scurb the teak several times to get the staining to remove. It really is starting to come together inside, the cushions have been removed and taken to our "interior seamstress" my wife sister. She has all the sewing stuff as she used to make high end childrens clothes. I still have allot to get done before removing the floor.

Twins

There is a nice pair of transoms. The Ericson 33 vs the Olson 34. Check out the difference in the wine shaped aft section of the Ericson must be an IOR design rule. Two totally cool looking sailboats.

Rigging

Attached is a image file I found on the Ericson website giving all the sizes and lenths of the standing rigging, running rigging, and sheets.

More exterior and interior photos from teh first day looking at her. I am going to have a fun day with the power washer.

Here is the interior fabric work done by Ericson - Remember the 70's baby. The floor is soft in a couple of places and will need to be replaced. Finally a sailboat that has a true galley. I will be so excited to cook some eggs and bacon on the cooktop.

Interior we shall go...

The interior needs some updating as discussed in an earlier thread. Attached are some photos of the boat on the first day we looked at her.
Here is the shot looking forward in the galley, the mast has been leaking thru the boot, and running down the liner to the veneered teak located at the windows, this will be replaced or fixed.

The first Romance

The family took a day trip to see the boat for the first time three weeks ago. This was after talking the details out with the owners and moving forward on our agreement about the boat. The marina was in a great location, clean bathrooms and we could park right in front of the catwalk to the slips. Our other club you had to park a long distance away from the action and even further away from the docks. This should make life alot easier taking supplies to the boat or having to get stuff out of the car. Photos of the boat when we first arrived.

The deck was in good shape, standing rigging was in great condition, there was a scratch in tge gelcoat forward port, and some minor bootstrip marks on starboard. The transom has some damage starboard top that will need some glass work but nothing jumped out at us.

The top sides looked to be in good condition also, we knocked about looking for any soft spots or rot. There is one spot forward in front of the mast that looks like compression, i will check below to see what is attached.

The interior looked to be in fair condition, mildew was growing due to a wet sump, the cushions were all stacked, and all of the doors were open to allow fresh air.

Frabric- Sunbrella

Searched the Internet for several fabrics to restore the cushions in the cabin. We are looking at making the interoir pop, I would like something more today as the girls are looking at more of a nautical look. I am suggesting a doe skin color in a micro fiber, and the girls are looking into a sunbrella. The new cushions no matter what is picked will freshing up the interior. Below is the photo of the sunbrella.

The Kickoff

We traveled up to the lake to get started on cleaning the interior of the boat, and do some general items before the winter months made it too cold outside. The drive is a little more than where our other boat, a Capri25 is stored

We have made the jump onto the new boat head on and have posted our Capri 25 for sale locally and thru sailing Texas site, I have her priced right and have 4 buyers interested in her. We got to the boat on a raining wet afternoon, and we started cleaning up the interior of the boat. She has been sitting for a while and needed a little TLC to make her shine. I was really suprized on how the teak cleaned up, and how the liner took a good beating thru the years. Day one of cleaning finished.

Welocome to our Ericson 33 blog. We have become 1/2 owner of an Ericson 33 designed by Ron Holland. Last weekend my wife and I got the proposal of our life, ownership of our 4 th sailboat, a true yacht. Welcome and enjoy our journey of cleaning, updating and sailing our new pride and joy.
